MARGRET PETURSSON July 13, 1906 - March 19, 2001 Peacefully at Lions Manor, Margret Petursson, aged 94, passed away. Margret Petursson was born in Winnipeg July 13, 1906, daughter to Rev. Dr. Rognvaldur Petursson and Holmfridur Petursson. Miss Petursson received her schooling in Winnipeg and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1929. Miss Petursson was a lifelong member of the Unitarian Church and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary at the church. She worked for a number of years in the family business in real estate holdings. Miss Petursson was a member of the committee to set up the Icelandic Chair at the University of Manitoba in the late forties and early fifties. This was a task dear to her heart and she worked diligently seeing it fulfilled. Predeceased by her brothers, Thorvaldur, Petur and Olafur; and her nephew Rognvaldur "Roggi" Petursson. "Auntie Margret" has left to mourn her sisters-in-law, Maude Petursson and Joan Petursson of Winnipeg; nephews, Jeff Petursson of Toronto, Drew Petursson (Adrienne) and their son Roland of Winnipeg, Barry Petursson (Joan) of Edmonton; niece Carla McKnight (Rick) of Matlock; and great-nephew Justin (Kori) of Vancouver. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 23 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance, with the Rev. Susan Vandreser officiating. Viewing from 12:30 p.m. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who so wish may make a donation to the Lions Club of Winnipeg. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
